Sand Lake Shelter Trips

Sand Lake IS North Of White Pass Along The Pacifc Crest Trail. I first saw this shelter in 1977 and have made serveral trips back to it in winter. The shelter is worthless in the summer ,but so nice to be used as a winter camp!! We have had up to 9 people in it at once which is quite cozy!! The Forest Servcie in the early 80's went on a " Witch Hunt" top burn and destory all the old shelters built by the CCC's in the 30's. Luckily , they missed this one......
