In the scene, the man to the left, in about to pull out a .44 magnum pistol and place it Cooley into the face of the clerk. He will then demand all the fucking money. Unbenounced him, the man to the right is an off-duty state trooper, who pulls out his gun and pistol whips the thug in the face, causing a large laceration, subduing him into custody.

actually, it's just Kevin and Alberto at the grocery store, buying beer for a BBQ.
