1019. Bare and tangled

22 October 2007

It's been a long time since I have written anything. I think I might be a little rusty. It really is quite amazing how quickly and easily one falls out of the habit, and out of practice. Now, something that I once found quite simple and which took very little time to complete has become troublesome and difficult. Not only do I seem to have lost much of my vocabulary, but I also seem to have a problem with direction. I'm sure that it will come back quickly - especially if, as is my intention, I keep this up and maintain it as I once did. As with almost everything in life, however, there are few certainties, and all I can promise are my good intentions and determination. I hope that will be enough to be going on with in the meantime - until I get back into the way of it.

It has been a long time since I updated the Daily Bowl of Stu, and much has happened in this little corner of the universe that I call my life in the meantime. There have been some ups and a few downs. To begin with, we're all a couple of years older - and at least we have that in common with everyone and everything else! I still take photos, although not as often as I once did. I got a little disillusioned when, despite winning numerous national and local prizes, and being named Scottish novice photographer of the year by the Scottish Photographic Federation, I still have not managed to encourage one single person to even enquire about purchasing any of my images. I decided that I would be better off concentrating on other things, and that is what I have done. Anyway, if I am to bring you all up to date with life with the Stu, then it will be better done over a number of days. Look out for tomorrow's instalment on how I coped when Liam woke up taller than me!

So glad you are back to your writings. I have always enjoyed them. Yes, I too am older, but not any wiser that I can tell. Selling photos does seem to be a bit difficult. I tried to get gallery representation her in Lexington. Got a meeting with the gallery owner, but nothing beyond that. I have entered some local and regional shows. Actually most of my sales game from those contests. One four person show lead to sales of about 40% of what was in the show. But, that was a few years back. So for sure, I do not have the answer. Anyway, glad to have you back posting beautiful images and writing.--Rene

Older? Yeah me too!
The photography market is so crowded in this digital age and you'd probably be better off gaining sales at an exhibition.
Good to see you back with dbos and the words will come back!

We should meet up soon - really enjoyed the day out in Fife with Gavin and yourself.

Perhaps you should aim at getting a book published
with your photos and text instead Stu! Fascinating
shot of the tangle of dark wood!
