Deus te Guie

3 August 2005

My theme for this month, or for as long as I can sustain it, is going to be 'neglected' - perhaps with a maritime thread running through.... we'll see. We will forget about the dramatic sky image that I posted a couple of days ago - or rather, we will neglect to mention it. There. It now fits in with the theme - especially since it was taken at Guardbridge, which is nearly beside the sea. As I am very busy just now (sorry about not commenting much recently - but the bills have to be paid), I have once again had to fall back on an image from the archive - although the processing was done today. This one was taken while I was in Lisbon earlier this summer, and is of the stern of an apparently abandoned fishing boat that is gradually crumbling away in a dark corner of Lisbon's Docas. The boat is named 'Deus te Guie', which means 'May God guide you'. I think that it is a lovely name for a boat. Another image of this boat can be seen in the Lisbon gallery (or here, to be more precise). I have decided that I want people to tell me what I can do to improve my photography, as I really want to get better at this, and want to know where I am going wrong when I am going wrong. I would appreciate it, then, if you could give me constructive criticism. That's not to say that I want you to be mean to me; just help make me better. Oh, and by the way, I'm still waiting for someone to pay me to travel around Scotland taking photos (I promise not to stay in any hotels with more than 4 stars!). Ray: I'm sure Slough is lovely at this time of year! A great place not to be, indeed!

Last year there were three of me... now we've all merged into one bigger me

I dig the textures in this one. Very negelected feel.

Great detail in the corner leading to a wonderful dof. Good greyscale processing too.

I have a hard time to take my eyes of this image. The Dof I think is what draws me into it and the shades. Nicely done.
