At last the living room has been repainted and rewired. The hard slog is over, now for the hard spend. A new coffee table and telephone table came today. Next on the list is the new carpet and suite - but they will have to wait a bit. Now I have been tasked with putting a letterbox on the front door - but only after I've stripped the paint, sanded it down, primed it and given it three coats of exterior grade brilliant white gloss paint. I also have to cut the hole in the door for the letterbox. Well, I suppose that's what happens when you buy a house that was built in the first year of Victoria's reign - not exactly maintenance free (but at least I've got 19th century wooden panelling, plaster cornices and 10ft ceilings). Ah well!... where did I leave the sandpaper?
