This bronze head of Victor Hugo made by popular french artist Auguste Rodin was given to the city of Vianden by the frecnh Senate.
Victor Hugo past some time of his life in Vianden where he bought a house on the corner of the bridge across the place where this statue is today and which is a museum for him today.
Victor Hugo came first to Vianden in 1862 and was elmchanted by the landscape. In 1863 he went back and was recived by the local harmony with a musical ovation.
Mai 1871 he was rejected from Belgium and he came here to stay and wrote many of his last books here. When he died in 1885, he was brought to Paris where he is burried at the Pantheon.
