I hiked into this view along the cross country Sierra High route from Gabbot pass in the upper left of picture. The peak in the center is Mt Gabb,the peak on the left is Mt Abbot, and this is the top lake in the Second Recess glacial cirque. Second Recess is, to me, one of the most spectacular places to be for a sunset in the Sierra. I've been here three times: 1998, 2001, 2004; and all were with Pika. I have seen evidence of native Americans visitation to this high wilderness cirque.
