The church is Saint Nicholas, in Curtea de Arges town, which was once the capital of Valachia; it was built at the
middle of XIV th century by the first voivod of
Valachia (one of the three principates that formed
modern Romania, together with Transilvania and
Moldavia). It is in the "greek cross inscribed" architectural style,
with amazingly beautiful original frescoes (just
recently restaured).
