This female black bear had three cubs that were climbing in the apple tree above here. I never got a chance to get a photo of them, unfortunately. She kept eating the apples that they knocked down.
I took the shots from about 50 yards away, using my Nikon 4500 on the Leica APO 77 spotting scope. Donny and I were sitting in the cab of his truck, and I had to try to balance the scope on the window. I wanted to get out of the truck and use my tripod, but as you can imagine, the bear wasn't very happy about us being there! Donny estimated that she weighed over 300 pounds, and I really didn't want to make her angry!!
Out of over 100 shots, I kept about 25. These are the best of them.
