Although the Peruvian Independence was declared in 1821, the spaniards didn't want to set free this andean territory so Junín battle took place at 4150 meters above sea level, the only weapon employed were swords, the enemy had 18,000 men against 8,000 of the locals, after one hour battle, the spaniards were defeated sealing our independence.
