While driving down Potash Road, something besides the scenery caught my eye: a railroad grade
crossing in a place that made no sense (there was no side road). That made me curious. Seeing
a car parked across the road from it made me more curious. I decided to investigate.
The road to the grade crossing stopped on the far side of the track, making me wonder why
it existed. (I later found out that it was part of an old bulldozed road in the canyon.)
Next to the grade crossing, I found a narrow "gate" for people to use to go past a barbed wire
fence. The gate reminded me of a cattle chute. Beyond the gate, a faint path went through the
tamarisk and followed the streambed. I followed the path a short while, then turned around.
Nice sharp photos and very interesting storytelling. When will you go and exlore the rest of it? Do you think you will be able to even find it again? What if the gate is locked when you come back?
