Lande Feed store, building front (razed in 2002)

Renton, Washington view map

The double door was rarely used during the store's later years. Instead, customers entered the building on a ramp leading to a side door. That ramp is out of view behind the brown truck. This store was an informal source for small animals: rabbits, chickens, and cats. The photographer's wife adopted a cat here in the early 1990s: Bailey, who died in 1998, was a cool critter.

The lobby of 95 Burnett apartments displays a monochrome version of this photo.

Thanks, Rene. What would we do without memories?

Hi Dave... I used to go here many times as a youngster. My Grandfather and several neighbors bought their feed and seed here. Also, when I was in scouts we met just around the corner (North & East) by the bridge at the American Legion Hall... I rode my bike here almost every week for a few years years! Great photo, awesome memories.

Steve, your inquiry got me thinking (danger!). My original question allows that the store does not exist. It is rumored that the city in which the store doesn’t exist also doesn’t exist. This leads to the disturbing conclusion that anyone living in said city also does not exist, or that he is a liar for claiming that he does live there. If I don’t exist, then is my response to Larry’s question a figment of your imagination? And if I don’t exist, how are you able to interact with me in the ether? If I am a liar, can you trust anything I say (trust me on this!)? Meditation helps me deal with these issues. That could be why I often seek psychic union with sandstonehttp://www.pbase.com/listorama/image/69824250 ). I am in no position to advise Larry on anything.

How do you advise Larry to answer your hypothetical question?

Steve, I'll have to meditate for two years before I can answer that extremely hypothetical question.

Dave, can a store in a town that doesn't exist be either open or closed?

Dave, your comments had me believing it is closed. It says OPEN but I guess it closed after you took this photo, which btw is nice.

Sam Drucker over in Hootervile had a store like this. Mr Haney took control ( result of a hostile takeover ) and turned the place into a Strip Club. Small animals: rabbits, chickens, and cats are still allowed inside on Thursdays.
