Gilluly Boy waiting to photograph a train at Gilluly Curve

Gilluly Boy waiting to photograph a train at Gilluly Curve

Gilluly, Utah

Railfans have a tough job: they have to sit around for hours to photograph a train. In
remote areas this can be challenging, as Mother Nature usually doesn't provide comfortable
seating. Thus the need for a device such as the folding camp chair I'm using. My car is
a mile away; I had to carry the chair on my backpack to use it here. A juniper tree
shades me from the blaring sun as I pass the time near the railroad tracks.

Here's a shot of Joe Tripod, my photographic assistant, after helping
me to take this picture: http://www.pbase.com/image/72079933 .

From this shady spot I photographed a train: http://www.pbase.com/listorama/image/71595975 .

"Gilluly" ? I think you make up these names Dave, purely in the interests of entertainment of course.
My ulterior motive meter has registered zero on this one.
Memo to self, think I will check the batterys on the UMM.

Dave you look good and comfortable...your hat looks like a face...white rabbit.

Steve, after glancing at the linked page and reviewing the matter with my legal department, I have come to the decision that legal action at this time would not be in the national interest.
Steve Ainsworth 01-May-2009 21:33
Dave, bring on your Legal Department! I have a secret weapon in my corner:

Steve, that guy wearing the hat is Bugaboo Smith, someone who accompanies me on many of my treks. He is shown in more detail here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/listorama/2312260930/ . His hat is anything but silly, so my Legal Department will be in touch to educate you on the cost of using slanderous comments in a public forum. (See Larry's hat comment for an example of gracious communication.) I prefer not to comment on the nature or legality of the grin on the other guy, as doing so might be self-incriminating.

Who's that little dude in the silly hat sitting next to you? That guy sitting next to him has what used to be known as an "illegal grin".

Nice that your hat even has a smiley face for Joe. That guy, Joe really has a way.

sorry Dave I forgot how to spell "throw"

Didn't Tonya Harding through Gillully a Curve; or was that a hub cap?

I like this image. You brought a chair but nothing to read? You look very relaxed.
btw
How come Joe is so thin lately?
Dave Beedon 18-Dec-2006 18:06
Even though Joe is a lightweight (890g/1.9lb), his attitude is never so. He never goofs off. He does, however, relax between assignments.

Did Joe Tripod get a chance to goof off and relax in the shade too?
