This photo represents disappointment on the second day of a road trip to Utah. Here, at the Oregon-California border, My camera died. Its ability to respond to my exposure settings slowly daded away. Aperture Priority mode died. Shutter Priority mode died. Manual mode died too, but took longer.
I battled this problem for about an hour, getting two or three decent exposures from the dozens I shot. This is one of the miracle exposures. Admitting defeat was difficult because it meant I would have to return home, and I had left home only two days before! Bummer.
Another type of disappointment concerned the reason for my being here. I was trying to duplicate a photo I had taken 40 years earlier. This is described in detail with another posting of this photo.
The light-colored specks on the sign's post are wads of gum.
