BNSF 6922

Near BNSF's South Seattle Yard view map

The engineer of a set of four locomotives passes the time just north of the South Seattle Yard while his trailer train is being made up in the yard. When the yard crew finished its work, the engineer will take his locomotives (next photo) into the yard and connect to the cars.

The writing below the flag shows that this model SD40-2 locomotive is based at Balmer Yard, a BNSF facility in the Interbay area of Seattle. This shot was taken from the far side of Airport Way, next to the Associated Grocers warehouse.

Train crews are brought here by a company van shortly before the freight cars are ready to be picked up. Crews then wait here until given the word that the cars are ready. At that point, the locomotives enter the yard, connect to the freight cars, and leave.

Yes. But why are Floyd and Charlie still sitting in the train?
