This looks southwest across the Columbia River, which here---as in many places---is more of a lake because of the presence of hydroelectric dams that impound the river's flow. This was taken from a small park next to the Fred Meyer store in East Wenatchee. Most of the city of Wenatchee is out of view to the right.
My reason for taking the shot is to honor the profession of PBaser Monte Dodge, who lives there and works in the railroad environment you see here. Toward the left side of the picture is Appleyard, both a geographic area and a common name for the BNSF freight yard ("marshalling yard" to UK residents) there. Almost all container traffic between Seattle and Chicago travels along the tracks across the river. This area of Washington has a large fruit industry, most notably with apples.
