Looking south from near the Gooseneck Viewpoint

The light-colored rock next to the road and in the distance is White Rim sandstone,
one of many layers of rock exposed in this area. The White Rim trail was built on
that layer. At left distance is a long horizontal shadow. Atop that shadow is
where I am headed: the Colorado River Overlook (separate gallery). This view
to the south looks over a deep canyon that appears in the following photos.
