A westbound Union Pacific train approaches Lakeside, Utah from the railroad causeway that crosses the Great Salt Lake. The track at right is Lakeside Siding.
Note the color of the lake water on both sides of the causeway. The reddish water at left has a higher concentration of algae than does the water at right. The causeway prevents mixing of the lake's water.
William Nicholls---Thanks for the info. The road to Lakeside is a county road, so I doubt that access is cut off.

2020, there's now a military post with housing straddling the Lakeside Road. There's a series of barriers to hinder an attack from the road, and a gate. During the pandemic, we chose to turn around instead of inquire about crossing the range. There may no longer be public access, or access permission may need to be obtained first.
A scene "Dudley Do-Right" would love.
I like it as well. Is there a chemical plant nearby causing the high algae level from runoff waste or is from warm water conditions?
