Phedi means foot and this is where we spend the night - at the foot of the final slope to the Thorong La pass. Nobody sleeps well - whether it is the altitude, the cold or the anticipation. But it is not just a dormitory stop - all afternoon I sit on my eagles pearch amongst the Jenga cairns. If I have to choose my favourite viewpoint of the trip, then this is it.
