Subic Rainforest - June 13, 2005

Just landed a business project that requires me to stay at Zambales Province for extended periods. This allows me more birding opportunities at Subic and the mountain range between Zambales and Tarlac. The Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 DG) gets a Philippine Flying Lizard in this trip.

Scientific name - Dendrocopos maculatus

Habitat - Smallest Philippine woodpecker, common in lowland and montane forest and edge,
in understory and canopy.
