Violet Cuckoo at Mt. Makiling!

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

Not too many birds at my favorite enchanted mountain today, but I was given a rare glimpse of the uncommon Violet Cuckoo, my 246th lifebird.
There was a darkish small bird foraging high up in the canopy, and I almost didn't take a shot because I thought it was just one of those ordinary flowerpeckers that abound in the place.
When I peered through my viewfinder to investigate, I was surprised that it is a male Violet Cuckoo. I promptly took a few bursts, never mind the bad angle and awful lighting.
The bird flew away before I can get more decent shots, but that's good enough for the day for me....after all, a lifebird is always a lifebird, regardless of the quality of capture...:)
