While out birding one recent morning, I stopped by a local model airplane "airport" to witness a group of men with expensive toys (like me). What a fascinating hobby !!! Actually I found it to be a good practice site for those fast moving birds that I rarely photograph. One of the club members asked me to post some of the photos I took of his pride and joy. Here they are, Pat ..... It's really no different than photographing birds, i.e. sometimes all I got was a tail ! I'll try harder the next time.
This is a neat place for the young and old. They have special dates during the year where one can try their hand at flying a radio controlled model airplane. They even have a paved runway. It is located in Baltimore Highlands near the Light Rail Station. This is what they say about their organization.
SWAP Modelers is a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), a recreational and educational organization under the Baltimore Highlands Recreation Council. We are an organization of enthusiasts dedicated to promoting the development of radio controlled (R/C) modeling as a recreational, sporting, and educational activity. It is also our goal to encourage brotherhood among the present and future members of the club and community; and to aid the programs of the Baltimore Highlands Recreation Council and the AMA.
