I believe I saw this bird at Saint Johns in Westminster this morning. Orange chest with dark wings and white strips on the wings.

Have a family of 4 living in the trees at the end of my back yard. They are amazing to watch and hear but they are trying to take my son's Mini Pin from his back yard next door. What can be done to discourage them from hunting my Grand Puppy? This is the first year for them and I was fascinated until my daughter in law came over and told me about one swooping down on Sydney. It missed thanks to her screaming for Sydney to come. Don't want this to happen.

I have a family of 3 living in the trees in my back yard. What can I do to discourage them from nesting there? They are very aggressive and trying to take my daughter-in-laws Mini Pin from her back yard just next door. Fantastic to hear and watch them but don't want to loose my Grand puppy to one.

They are a striking bird to see. There are 3 or 4 that I see flying around the Lockheed Martin building in Rockville. 3/19 and 3/20/14

I live in Dundalk and saw one in my neighbors pine tree. The bird flew down and landed on the ground. It is a very large and beautiful.

I'm inclined to believe that it would be illegal to possess a Hawk, dead or alive without the appropriate permits. You should contact the Department of Natural Resources for guidance.

I just saw this hawk in my back yard eating a rabbit. Ive seen him several times and a mate flying over several times but I couln't get a good look until today. I m not sure but I believe he stays in the winter and hunts my birdfeeders. Beautiful !!

I have been seeing this bird in my back yard a few weeks now. When I first saw them, I always see a pair, I was awe struck because they are so beautiful, large and colorful. I'm used to seeing Ravens, Orioles and other amaller birds but seeing the Red Shoulder Hawk was such a treat. As I said I see 2 of the together usually, but a few days ago I saw at least 5 different ones flying in the sky. I didn't know for sure if it was a Red Winged or a Red Shoulder but when I just saw 1 of them up close today I know for sure. It's a Red Shoulder. They are beautiful. I'm in Owings Mills MD

I think these two hawks moved to the Montgomery County side of Tridelphia Lake. I live in Brighton and I saw this hawk and it's mate almost every day from June 16th to June 25th. I haven't seen them lately though. They were both in great shape. I actually saw one of them attempt a strike at a squirrel one Saturday morning. The hawk missed, but still what an awesome way to start the day.

yes, i saw this one sitting on a tree outside of my room, and their was a crow on the top of that same tree and the second the red shouldered hawk flew off; the crow chased after it! i've been waiting for it to come back but it hasn't:'( will the crow hurt it?

Here's a funny story about this bird. I've lived her for 19 years and never saw this hawk. There's a red tail that will sit on my fence and sit it a dead tree in my back yard, but not this one. 2 summers ago, I heard this awful screaming while I was by my pool and I looked up and could see it was a hawk but it was facing me so I thought it was the red tail and that it was injured. So I called all over Harford County trying to find someone that could help this poor thing out. It screamed for 45 minutes straight!!! No one was getting back to me so I started doing research online to see if there was anything I could do and came across this site that had bird calls on it and there it was a red shouldered hawk. When I played it, I couldn't believe the sound. Well thank God only one person called me back and I didn't have to embarass myself over and over!!!
