3rd March 2007 - no reason

There is no reason for this shot other than I thought the fennel looked nice in the farm shop so I bought some and shot it.

As I said a few days ago, I’m finding myself doing it more and more.

Well, I can think of no better reason than the fact that my world has been one of hard physical work today – I have been operating the (Bosch) shredder all day, making footpaths of chippings in my veggie plot. Basically, I’ve been hacking back overgrown shrubs, shredding them then using the chippings to suppress weeds and make pathways in the veggie garden, none of which is very photogenic so this will be a good substitute.

While I was working, a young man came wandering up the path and said ‘Are you Linda?’ I replied in the positive and he asked me if I wanted any dung – so I now have 30 bags of rotted manure for the veggie plot. It’s amazing how I could have wished for just such a treat this morning and here it is. As David said, he’s never bought me such a load of old shit before.

As Archie said ‘yum, yum, can I eat it?’ As Rosie said ‘Oooohhhhh – I like this, I’m going to roll in it!’

Here it is then, a vegetable that’s not from our vegetable patch, representing working in said patch.

I’m having a thing about white on white at the moment, I don’t know why other than I need to learn to control lighting of such subjects better.

Last year, I was burning things....again!

I remember that you shot fennel once before and I thought it was really lovely. I like this photo very much.

Beautifully photographed, Linda. The whites are great and that delicate green shouts spring.
