.....sticky or sweet?

This wasn’t today’s shot – I ran out of ammo for that one so you’ll have to have another day’s shot instead.

I have been meaning to get some nice gloopy drippy syrupy shots since I bought a can of Lyle’s finest to make some concoction at Christmas…..unless I am mistaken, it was probably that wickedly chocolaty cheesecake but I can’t be bothered (and in the interests of us eating our evening meal sometime before tomorrow) to go and find the recipe to check.

So, tonight’s shot? Well, it was VERY NAUGHTY on all sorts of levels but as I’ve already said, I ran out of ammo…..I swore I’d NEVER buy ‘props’ for my pics yet I find myself doing it more and more these days and I need to go and buy more of the particular ammo concerned (in case you remotely care, I won’t spoil your surprise).

While I was doing my ‘failed early shots’ I spotted this pic in the making. It all came about because I have run out of honey and as I often do in these circs, I scavenge the cupboard looking for an alternative for my recipe that’s as close as I can. I spotted the syrup lurking and decided very sweet and orange – it’s close enough!!!!!

It reminded me of being a hormonal and very spotty teenager and being introduced to the Ohio Players. Now I have NO conception at all of how successful they were so I have no idea whether everyone will go ‘ping, I knew that’s where she was going with this’ or ‘huh, what’s the dippy old tart on about now?’ So, forgive the explanation if you’re in the ‘ping’ camp…..

You see the Ohio Players were a funk band in the 1970s and they released an album in 1975 called Honey. It was in the days of delicious things like fold out covers and the fold out in this case was a naked woman dripping from head to foot in honey (or syrup, who knows). When you are fifteen and having led a very sheltered life, this image was truly shocking. It said ‘adults do this’ and ‘adults like this’ and I thought to myself, ‘hmmmmmmm’.

So, today I googled them and they have a website, which appears not to have been updated for some years and it’s described as ‘unofficial’. It is titled ‘how do you like your funk?’ ‘Sticky or sweet?’ Their view on the album ‘Honey’? They give it top marks and say ‘you must own this album, buy it asap’!!!! I think I may have to just do that and see if they were really that good or if the memory of the website’s creator is just fuelled by wet dreams. My humble apologies if you are the person who created the Ohio Players site - you must understand why I need to ask myself that?(Have you seen the Rachel Sweet website – blimey there are a few on there!!!!)

So there we go – a little ambit round some sticky sweet stuff!
