1st February 2007 - travelling light

I know that you might think this is REALLY cack because the station hasn’t got it’s ON at the end but the reason for taking it is the old sign underneath, which, although I am not at all into halting the progress of time, has a style and a class that the modern one simply does not.

There are 3-4 stations in the Kensington area all with these beautiful signs still remaining. Some even have the original designs in the tiling on the platforms – in fact, Ray posted a photo of one of the ones on Gloucester Road station a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve been travelling around London, not particularly lightly, traipsing a suitcase on wheels behind me. I was looking at venues for an event and been thinking about how lovely this is so, regardless of an attempt to get a shot of an ant on a rubber tree plant later in the day (very late in fact so that’s why it was SO bad it couldn’t be used), so it made the cut.

This has been a strange day – weird work and later Christmas Dinner with the team…..many of whom are not people I know these days so I was glad of an opportunity to get around them and meet them all.

In the crazy world of ‘the office’ life moves on without me and I feel like an outsider now.
A letter from america came to me last year.

Lovely picture. Whenever I see these glass, stone and metal Victorian signs, it makes me think that when they were put up, there was an assumption the railway company, shop or whatever, would be around forever. There are similar examples in my home town. Keep up the excellent work!
