2nd September 2006 - fire inside

Today has been one of those days – it’s been tipping down all day and I’ve only been outside to tend to animals in one way or another. We took R&A to the vet for their jabs this morning, stopping en route home for fresh food from the farm shop. I’ve been out to tend to hens and wabbits but that’s it really – nothing else.

So, what have I done? (Because as you know I always have ants in my pants and can’t sit still for a moment!) Well, I’ve measured up and plotted out the new layout of the kitchen. I’ve sought out a recipe for courgette bread (once again, as always, we are swamped with them!) BTW – as a complete aside, we had a meal the other day where all three of the ingredients (eggs, potatoes and onions) were from our own garden – the only ‘non-home-grown’ thing was the black pepper and salt! Finally, I’ve spent some time in the studio shooting pics of stuff!

This bit of ‘stuff’ is a crystal paperweight that my sis bought for me as a birthday pressie and as it’s translucent I decided I’d see what happened when I put a flashgun directly behind it and drove it from a slave unit. I got this, which I rather like and think it looks a bit like what I imagine molten rock to look like…..but then that’s based purely on nothing so if I’m a million miles out then that’s no great surprise. Anyway, it's symbolic of the fire within that's still burning bright!

While I’ve been ‘making pictures’ DM has also been ‘making pictures’ in his darkroom…….

Toad in the hole was last year's subject.

I was trying to figure out what this was... Looks like fire and ice!

That's lovely, studio was definitely a wise place to be today.

Great abstract! The outer bit kind of make me think of what a heart would look like!
