This is the original bill of sale of our house, from its introduction into private ownership. Made out by the solicitor of Viscount Clifden and signed by the man himself.
On a day when we’ve been deeply involved in our own history again (and v v glad we weren’t at ‘The Lane’), this document has been part of our investigations.
The woman the house was let to is listed and now we’ve managed to locate her on the 1891 census and the 1901 census, not to mention that we now know who bought it off the Lanhydrock estate.
The candle light and the age of the document work together for me…..
