10th March 2006 - peepshow

Look inside – you know you can’t resist it.

We all love to peep don’t we? We want to see if what we’ve got is as good as it gets. We want to know what other people have got. We want to see inside someone else’s life. We want to judge whether what they’ve got is better than what we’ve got. We want the ability to judge based on what we see.

If we’re lucky we get to see something interesting. Mostly though, it’s just mundane. It’s just like our own ordinary lives.

Occasionally we see something we shouldn’t see and that gives us a thrill. If it’s really good the thrill can last for weeks or months. Do you remember the first time you caught a flash of flesh that had been exposed just a bit too far for the environment where you saw it? Do you remember that thrill?

Occasionally we see something we wished we’d not seen. We see something that tears our world apart. Like the time you saw your lover a bit closer to someone else than you thought was decent? I saw something like that last year, only it wasn’t my lover I saw doing something they shouldn’t – it was the lover of someone I care about.

What do you do? Do you tell what you saw? Do you keep it to yourself even though you know you would like to know if the boot was on the other foot? I’m not telling which choice I made. That’s for me and the people involved to know and anyone peeping into this to guess at.

Don’t you like to ride on a bus or a train late at night and see into the bedroom windows of the houses you pass…..maybe you’ll see something exciting. Maybe you’ll get an idea for some internal décor to die for….maybe you’ll see an embrace or more. Does this make you a voyeur? Is that a bad thing? If people don’t want you to look, shouldn’t they shut their curtains?

Peep into a world other than your own – you know you want to.

Look. Look inside. Look closely. See something. See me today.

Last year someone peeped into my world and stole my photo - 350 direct links on it....that's got to be one someone else's website hasn't it?

Vey cool image. Really focuses the eye on the ey, so to speak. I love to watch people, sometimes Cathi and I both will sit at dinner in a restaurant, watch the people and never say a word to each other!

I love looking, watching, seeing, finding out what I can…because I love people and all their differences.
Sharing what you observe is another huge subject and my opinions have changed on this!

I rarely ride on trains and never where I can look in someone's windows. I do like people watching. I enjoyed your PAD very much today. Nice shot and nice prose.

Looking at your picture I see ET and Elliot? (was that is name?) flying past the moon.
It is Friday!

Loved your prose here. I rarely look at "peoples bedroom decor", but sometimes pick out seemingly normal, random people in the street and wonder what upheavals or hang-ups they are up against. All those minds walking around in silence....
