Rosie gets caught by David who gets caught by me.
I am strangely drawn to B&W images at the moment – I’m certain it’s a deeply felt symbolism for the weirdness of my world at the moment. Even though we’ve got a lot done this weekend and we’ve also interspersed our efforts with some fun, my mind is never far from the realisation that I’m off on my own again to London tomorrow. I wish so much that I could switch off my brain from time to time and let myself have fun without always worrying about tomorrow but I’m just not like that. I will go back into full-on, glorious technicolour (or some other sort of full-on colour) when my world is a bit more stable and a bit less stressful.
We’ve had another really positive day, the shed that has been laying in its panels on our lawn for nearly two months has been assembled today so that’s more storage space for our belonging that are arriving in two weeks. It’s been a bigger job than assembling a shed normally would be because we’ve got no level ground here so we spent a couple of hours making a flat space first. The shed doesn’t seem too badly perturbed by its weeks in the rain unassembled thank goodness, aside from a few slugs and snails that have made their home inside. Even better is the fact that we worked hard all day but ended up with our tempers intact and with no shouting - very cool situation indeed.
With that and the painting finished, we’ve made good progress this weekend. We’ve not totally finished – shelves have to go into the window alcoves and the fireplace that we’ve exposed but can’t use because it’ll need relining before we could use it so we’re just going to put in a shelf and leave it as a pretty ‘feature’. There’s still new rails for curtains needed and a dressing table for me but then it’s all done.
After finishing the job, we took a late walk onto the moor to let the dogs run off some steam, with black clouds chasing us along the way. Amazingly, we managed to escape a soaking and had a good walk. David was up on the hilltop beside me and I’d got my camera out for one of these silhouetty pics (I know, I know, there are quite a lot of them populating my PotD at the moment) when Rosie ran into the viewfinder and looked startled to be being photographed by David so I snapped the two of them together.
To be honest, the main reason for the B&W is that there was so little colour in the image anyway, it seemed pointless to preserve it so away it went.
Last year I was mourning the death of a hero and two years ago I was watching a giant emerging from out of the ground!!!
