It's a 1958 Oldsmobile coupe or sedan with a "Continental Kit". Not sure which model -- could be an "88", "Super 88" or "98". When I was a boy, my father had an "88" convertible, in an equally loud purple, with white top & interior -- we called it "The Purple People Eater", after the popular novelty song of the time.
