Loved that children's section in the basement. Checked out Where The Wild Things Are several times. Never once solved an Encyclopedia Brown detective story.

Mid '60s my mom used to take me downstairs for books. A lot of those science fiction books have my name on the cards.

i lived across the street when it was a library in the early to mid sixties, many a cold and rainy day i spent in the basement that had been converted to the children's reading room. they had old stereoscopic viewers with, what seemed like, thousands of old 3d pictures from around the world with different cultures - all from 1890's to 1910's. discovered ray bradbury, tucked away in the shelves, really changed me. in 2001 i am living in boulder, colorado, and attended ray bradbury's induction to a literary honors group in boulder. so many memories as i listen to him speak.
