Hiking in the Bolivian Altiplano . Andes offer some of the most spectacular hiking opportunities on the planet. That being said, walking at high altitude brings with it certain inherent risks, the most common of which is altitude sickness .symptoms of AMS include headache, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, difficulty sleeping and extreme lethargy. Going straight from the airport to the start of your trek is potentially putting yourself at risk of AMS which it happened to me .the key is to rest ,drink a lot of water ,walk slow and breath very often.

an amazing landscape...mate de coca is also useful against altitude sickness....what I noticed at high altitude in Peru was that with any climbing, the legs also quickly felt very heavy..

This looks very challenging even without the altitude risks! You must have to pack a lot of water. Your picture is quite stunning. V
