Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina) These images chronicle the mating and subsequent movements of two very large snapping turtles. The mating took place in the small stream feeding a lagoon in Opelkia, AL. One of the specimens moved to a sandy shore line at which time additional photos were taken. The carapace of these specimens ranged from approximately 24" - 36" in length and approximately 15" - 20" in width.
