Common Snapping Turtle

Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina)
These images chronicle the mating and subsequent movements of two very large snapping turtles.
The mating took place in the small stream feeding a lagoon in Opelkia, AL.
One of the specimens moved to a sandy shore line at which time additional photos were taken.
The carapace of these specimens ranged from approximately 24" - 36" in length and approximately 15" - 20" in width.
