I also say it is Plumeria. The guest is right it is used in leis in Hawaii.

I should have mentioned that this is the flower of a small tree, the size of dogwood.

Plumeria, but also called frangipani. It is used in leis in Hawaii, and is fragrant. There is also a pink plumeria. I have seen it in Key West. It is common in Singapore and Indonesia.

I think it belongs to Michelia champaca family. In India, specially in Maharashtra state we call it Sonchapha. Hope it helps.
