We stayed one night in the Paria area hoping to receive a permit to hike the “Wave”, a narrow slot canyon known for its beautiful formations. Thirty-nine people contended in a lottery for 10 permits into the “Wave”. It was not our lucky day, so we hiked to the Toadstool area in the morning and drove on toward Bryce Canyon.
