Recovery from permanent toenail removal

Some ask WHY?

Well, as an ultramarathon runner, I am constantly losing this toenail after races due to the repetitive trauma of downhill running. It always grows back funky or straight down into the nail bed. I've had to have it temporarily removed 2 other times, and this time I decided I did not want to go through that experience again and again and again. It's a good thing I didn't take pictures of the needles used to numb the toe and the tourniquet around the toe and the blunted instrument the podiatrist uses to bore under the nail. It's not fun. So, now....NEVER AGAIN!!

Until, that is, I do the right big toenail. And then, I WILL take and post some good pictures.....stay tuned. The right one comes off this week!
