Some runners' races are already over at this point, usually due to acute heat accumulation in the body causing hyperthermia. Having started at 10 am, we are getting into the hottest part of the day and so are avoiding hyperthermia by walking the upgrade into Furnace Creek. As you can see, we are happy and free and are not feeling hot at all. Our heat and sauna training has served us well.
