"Summer's Good-bye" by Wilfred I. Duphiney

This photo -- which could stand better light to do the subject justice -- is a book illustration my grandfather painted (Wilfred I. Duphiney). It is called "Summer's Good-bye". I have always loved the idea of the summer cloud kissing the mountain goodbye -- two lover's who will meet again.

I felt compelled to share it after Sandi Whitteker's photo, "Do you see him?" click here: http://www.pbase.com/image/94345611

Perhaps I need to document some of the paintings my grandfather did. When will we have more hours in the day?

Thank you Sandi, for your wonderful photo.

I was mesmerized by this painting my aunt had of this, summer afternoons of 35 years ago.. I'm wondering how I can come across a print? My relatives still have theirs but will not give it up:) '

With that heritage flowing thru your existence, it is now revealed, possibly, why you became engaged to a camera. You have many talents. Embrace them!

Wonderful painting Laura. This really brings the photo I took so much more to life for me, seeing your Grandfather's wonderful rendition and imagination for Cochise. I'll forward this to Carol Breton, who lives near this formation, and perhaps she'll get lucky with the clouds one day. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Wow, took me a few seconds to realize the faces in the painting. Duh, I'm slow. That's a really cool painting.
Of course i'm more in hopes of a good bye to WINTER.
