Autumn moths

Beechwood Cemetery

Either Bruce's Spanworm or the Autumn Moth. Found this mating pair by watching the male flutter around the tree trunk until finding what he sought, a female moth huddled into the bark. The females are flightless. She'll lay eggs which will overwinter. Not harmful to trees, not to be confused with the Gypsy moths.

he was barking around the right tree it seems...no wonder he's aflutter...odd the female is flightless, although that explains her lack of wings..
