Skunk (Mephitis mephitis)

Ottawa west

A few winters ago, in late March, we were walking a trail near a road when a car pulled up and someone with a live trap released this very large skunk. The area was wooded with a large wetland nearby, so the skunk should have fared OK. I hope so anyway.

It does look very close! Poor thing having to find a whole new landscape to call home - at least it was caught in a live trap.

Great shot. You were much braver than I probably would have been around a skunk under stress. Love your low shooting angle.
