Springtails on a polypore fungus

Mer Bleue Conservation Area. Springtails are minute Hexapods in the Class Collembola. There are many, many species in many different Orders and Subfamilies. I have no idea which Order these ones belong to; I know only that they are springtails. In later winter, on warm days, snow can be sometimes covered with countless thousands of these tiny little creatures hopping all over the snow, giving rise to the common name of Snow Flea (but they are NOT fleas!!). Many live in or under fungi, decaying wood, vegetation, and of them, Bug Guide says: 'Springtails are "decomposers" that thrive mostly on decaying organic matter, especially vegetable matter.'

Full of life, rather literally crawling with it.
