No, this crossbill was not seen recently! In fact, I took this photo in 2009, when there was a huge incursion of winter finches into the region. Crossbills were everywhere, here in the Arboretum, in the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, outside my house, west and east of the city, all over! Ditto for common redpolls and pine grosbeaks too. That was a good winter!
