Bee fly (Villa sp.)

A medium size bee fly found along a trail in an alvar type area. Bug Guide says there are about 12 spp in this genus in Canada, 270 spp worldwide. Although bee-like in appearance, this is a fly, not a bee.

It really does look bee like. Great detail and I like its translucent wings. V.
