Hobblebush (Viburnum alnifolium)

In early spring, deep woods are lit up by the huge sprays of white flowers of the native hobblebush shrub. The flowers don't last too long, but even without flowers, the large, leathery, paired leaves are very attractive and distinctive. Photographed in Frontenac County.

It is almost as if you layered one image on top of another. Very striking.

They may not last long but they sure look beautiful here. And as you say, the leaves will provide greenery all summer. Lovely spring image. V.
