Mullein (Verbascum thapsus)

This is a common, tall, showy non-native wildflower, most common in disturbed areas such as along roadsides or pastures. This was another plant brought over by settlers long ago. The dried flower stalks were dipped in tallow and used as a cheap candle, hence one of its common names is Candle-wick Plant!
