Red admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) on Sedum

Taken near Bourget yesterday. This is the first red admiral butterfly I've seen this summer, whereas last year they were all over the place, hundreds of them. They are a migratory species, and some years we see lots of them, other years, few.

I'm starting to see more monarchs floating thru the area this week; haven't seen many all summer.
