Monarch butterfly egg (Danaus plexippus) on swamp milkweed

I watched a monarch lay this egg on the swamp milkweed in my garden. One lone egg. Next morning it was gone, which was sad. These eggs are tiny little dots, so imagine... out of this comes the large, beautiful and iconic Monarch Butterfly.
