Funnel weaver (Agelenopsis sp.), female

I was packing up the last few garden items prior to the movers coming. Turning over this large ceramic saucer I saw three funnel weaver spiders, each with what I think were egg masses. It was fascinating to watch them interact. Every so often, one would reach out a leg and prod the other female and when she moved slightly, would settle back into her previous position, as if checking that the others were alright. None of them ran off or showed any signs of doing so. Therefore, all three are now at the new house, under the ceramic saucer, in a sheltered corner of the garden!

Also known as grass spiders.

It looks like you had a multi-family move! It sounds like they had some sort of communal living arrangement going on. That's very interesting.

I actually really don´t like spiders and this already today the second here! There must something fascinating about that animal! Is it because of Halloween coming up! Great shot!

Great shot! I have one of these under the screen cover on one of my rain barrels. I'm waiting for the babies to hatch before I store it for the winter. V
