American redstart nest

Walking through the Nortel woods I came nose to nose with this beautiful little American redstart nest. Like many warbler nests, they are small cup-shaped structures, but unlike many, redstarts place theirs fairly low down, about 5-8 feet above the ground, Many have strips of birch bark woven through the outside. They line their nests with pine needles, grass, and other plant fibres.
